When one thinks about India, one gets the images of slums, poverty, snake-dancers or Bollywood and its lavish productions. One can also recall images of over-population and the Taj Mahal. What a person might not recall is the fact that, yes, India is one of the most populous places on earth, but it also has some of the best schools and this more than compensates for the country’s huge population. It is also because of this that India has a booming economy despite this extended global recession. Many great people have been produced by this Asian sub-continent.
Naveen Jain traces his roots back to Uttar Pradesh, India. He lived a simple life with his average income family. But he was not spared the reality of poverty and illiteracy experienced by some of his unfortunate countrymen. Now successful and established, Naveen Jain is giving back to his home country of India. Through his company, Intelius, Jain has contributed greatly to many Indian institutions.
Some of these Indian organizations are Child Rights and You (CRY India), Vedic Cultural Center, and the Indian American Education Foundation. CRY, for example, is based in Mumbai, India and is an organization that looks to improve the conditions of poor children in India. US-based Indian organizations like the Indian American Education Foundation are also supported by Intelius. Although based in Seattle, the Indian American Education Foundation advocates the education of India’s underprivileged youth, especially the physically and mentally handicapped. Indian art and cultural organizations also receive funds and help from Jain and Intelius. Organizations like the Vedic Cultural Center and the Seattle Asian Art Museum are just some of the institutions supported by the company.
Truly, through his company, Naveen Jain continues to remember his roots. Now that he has the means to do so, he tries to make a difference in his own way.
